NO MORE NDA!!!! w00t!
Oct 03, 2008 - 12:49 AM - by mxweas
Apple has finally dropped the NDA for all released software, including the SDK and public firmwares!

Seen on iPhone Developer Program Page: iPhone Developer Program
Quote:
We have decided to drop the non-disclosure agreement (NDA) for released iPhone software.
We put the NDA in place because the iPhone OS includes many Apple inventions and innovations that we would like to protect, so that others don’t steal our work. It has happened before. While we have filed for hundreds of patents on iPhone technology, the NDA added yet another level of protection. We put it in place as one more way to help protect the iPhone from being ripped off by

Looking for Moderators
Aug 24, 2008 - 7:18 PM - by mxweas
iDevKit is growing and needs some help. If you feel you're up to the task of being a moderator at the iDevKit forum, I'll be looking for someone who knows how to develop and can provide support to other members of the forum. I'll also be looking to see who contributes the most useful code samples. Whoever demonstrates this will be receiving Moderator status and maybe even Super Moderator status.

Max

EDIT: Please do not PM me about this. I will be watching the forum and all posts & code samples will not go unnoticed . Also, Do not copy Apple's sample code, articles and/or other documentation as these are already available to iPhone Developers and are copyrighted by Apple.

iPhone 3G Released!
Jul 11, 2008 - 7:18 PM - by mxweas
iPhone 3G is now out! Though the firmware is now live and so is app store, there are no signs of Apple removing the non-disclosure agreement today. Therefore I will need to keep the SDK development section protected.

iPhone 2.0 Firmware Leaked!
Jul 10, 2008 - 3:35 PM - by mxweas
Yes the iPhone software version 2.0 has been leaked! You can download it directly from Apple here: iPhone 2.0 IPSW. To install, download iTunes 7.7 and use cmd+update/ctrl+update to select the firmware in iTunes. This firmware version will be erasing your entire phone! This is most likely to expand the OS partition for applications available through App Store. With all 1.x updates normally the Media partition is left alone because the OS partition does not change size, but in this case iTunes will be making a full backup of the Media partition for this update. I have been told by a few sources this firmware update is not downgradable even with DFU mode. Though I don't believe it to be true, update at your own risk!

iDevKit.com Now Public (SDK forum is now private)
Jun 30, 2008 - 8:26 PM - by mxweas
I have now removed the password protection keeping this forum from the public. All threads in the iPhone SDK development section can now only be viewed by members I approve. This thread protection will be removed when the NDA is removed by Apple from their SDK. Until then all newly registered users must send me a private message to gain access to the forum.

EDIT: As many of you may have noticed, I have been approving new members after they register. I will try to keep this up, if your account is not approved for the SDK Dev section within 24 hours of registration please send me a message.
